Message Been making some progress on this setup lately - well, perhaps that would be an understatement. The amount of time and money put into the development of this piece has grown exponentially. I finalized the design last week for the electric motor's bearing and shaft seal housing and spent a few hours at the CNC shop yesterday programming the machine (with the owner) for this part, as well as the fixture to hold the castings into the machine for processing. At this point, all of the machining is done and parts can be produced rather quickly, although not exactly cheaply, LOL. I spent a little bit of time mocking up the part to check for fitment and tolerances last night and everything is fitting according to plan. I've taken some pictures and updated the image gallery on my website, but here's a few images:

Original design, February 24th.

All parts CNC machined:

Final plans are to machine the rear motor housing/bearing housing and CNC engrave my "AshSPEC" logo into it, polish things up a little and perhaps powdercoat or nickel plate some of the parts, but performance and reliability is obviously paramount to good looks (sorry Spee) ;-). I am planning to install this water pump onto a bare block I have here and route a feed pipe to the pump's inlet at the top of the block and connect that to a reservoir. Should be able to take some measurements of flow capacity of the pump at various voltages. I would like to produce a new mandrel to hold the stock water pump impeller and test it as well just to get an idea of where the new impeller wheel design stands, as I am sure everyone else would like to know too.

Stay tuned
